It’s time to decorate to liberate

Last year, we asked you to get your bunting and flags out early ahead of Liberation Day and you didn’t let us down.

This year, we are asking the same, with the return of Decorate to Liberate.

Liberation Day is the most important day in Guernsey's calendar but once again, we will need to celebrate it in a different way this year. While the island is now restriction-free internally, Liberation Day activities in Town will be limited. Instead, there will be a focus on celebrating with family, friends and neighbours within our parish communities.

Liberation Day organisers have confirmed that plans for the 2021 celebration are underway for Sunday 9^th May and are continuing to work behind the scenes on events and activities for the day.

The team are closely following advice from Public Health and, whilst there is no fixed deadline for announcing how the day will be celebrated, a decision will be made well in advance of Liberation Day, giving islanders enough time to prepare.

Plans are progressing well for Liberation Day 2021 despite the Island being in the midst of its second lockdown. A recent article published in Business Brief highlighted how plans are moving forward, and support from local businesses and sponsorship is being sought for activities taking place on the day.
